This chapter is nearing the end and I am happy to report that I am working on the script for Chapter 3! Nicoy has done a great job! If you would like to help out with the updates to get them sooner, please consider donating! Once this chapter concludes, I will be uploading the high resolution ebook to Amazon and DriveThru comics. I will give Createspace a shot with POD for this issue. Would you be interested in supporting a redraw of Chapter 1? I am leery of redoing that Chapter again since it feels like it is cursed.

Demons
This was an interesting piece to write since I wanted to show consequences and how certain events can make even the nicest person change. I went with a different pantheon for this one. =)
Nikola
I recently published my horror romance short story, “Nikola” to Amazon Kindle featuring cover art by Nicoy Guevarra! This is set in the SC universe but we won’t see this connection until later on in Salient Caligation.
As always, Patrons get early access to updates and bonus material. Donations help the comic update more frequently. We are still on track! We’re getting close to the end of this issue. 😉 Please consider donating through our Patreon or Ko-Fi links.

If you’d like to support my artist, Nicoy more directly, please consider donating to her Patreon or Ko-Fi.
Also of note, Song of Asteria Issue 1 is also live on DriveThru Comics, Amazon Kindle and Blurb!
Setting tone
I decided to take a line of dialogue out of this page since it changed the tone of what’s happening. Something bad is happening. It shouldn’t be made light of. But yeah, we are in NSFW territory again. Because, nipple.
Impact
No one ever likes the truth. The magic thing was easy to believe but the fairy thing is just too far for Marie? I guess everyone has to draw their line in the sand somewhere. 😉
Anyway, if you’d like to see Salient update weekly, please consider donating to my Patreon! Nicoy does a great job on these and I intend to keep hiring her for the work. =) Donations through my Patreon go directly towards Salient Caligation while donations through my Ko-fi go to my projects as a whole. Donators get early updates and an updated PDF with all of the current comics in the issue.
Nicoy also has a Patreon to help free up some of her time from freelancing to work on more personal art, consider supporting her directly here: https://www.patreon.com/nicoyguevarra/
Spiral
Escalation
This is spinning out of control, huh?

Sense of foreboding
I had a lot of time after writing the first chapter of Salient Caligation to decide on what type of story that I wanted to tell in the future chapters. I had originally planned for Salient to be a 5 Chapter series with a hard conclusion in the 5th chapter. I always hate when a good story runs on too long.
With a demon hunter story you can really only go so far before you run out of ideas. But the stories don’t have to feel stale, and the story can go to divergent paths in the same universe and still feel interesting.
I have branched out a bit and created other characters and concepts that I rather enjoy in the Salient Caligation mythology. I created it so easily because I had already been working on a Fallen Angel story for several years prior. I was experimenting with concepts and character development arcs through different roleplay with that particular character who I hope to introduce in Chapter 4. I will have to see if I can still confine the main story of Caitlin to just 5 chapters since I have devoted this whole chapter to Moira.
Greek
Of all the languages to use for Moira’s magic, I chose Greek. I wanted something that I didn’t commonly see used in horror movies or books. Most authors pick Latin as their casting language. I originally used a font called Miskatonic for Caitlin’s spells but I think with her heritage, it would be better for her to cast in Chinese.
There is still a lot to learn about Moira and her background. This chapter is an important moment in her life. Magical things can happen at crossroads and journeys always take unexpected turns.
